Biography 1967

A great number of personal exhibitions are held this year. At the “Larcade” Gallery in Paris, presented by Ernest Pirotte (Paul Bury’s pseudonym), Gribaud exhibits white logogrifi, the titles of which are taken from Greek words referring to graphics. Then he has an exhibition at the “La Minima” Gallery in Turin (the catalogue introduced by Cesare Zavattini): the white logogrifi exhibited have fanciful titles such as “Gillotipia, “Greco delle incisioni”, “Greco paleografico” and “Palingrafico”. Other personal exhibitions are held at the “La Bertesca” Gallery in Genoa, the “La Giostra” Gallery in Asti, the “Paolo Barozzi” Gallery in Venice and the “Saletta grafica” at the “Schwarz” Gallery in Milan. A catalogue introduced by Renato Barilli is published for this last exhibition. Gribaudo takes part in the Paris “Salon de Mai” and the Havana “Salon de Mai” in Cuba. Together with more than a hundred artists, including world-wide art and cultural personalities, a “Grande Mural” is achieved after ten days and ten nights of uninterrupted joint work. The artists taking part are Eduardo Arroyo, Valerio Adami, Roland Penrose, Corneille, Luigi Carluccio, Wifredo Lam. “Fratelli Pozzo” Editors document the enterprise by publishing the book “Mural Cuba Colectiva 1967”. On this occasion, Gribaudo meets Fidel Castro, Gian Giacomo Feltrinelli and Goffredo Parise. He takes part in the “IX Biennale Internazionale” at São Paulo in Brazil, where he wins the “premio-acquisto” for graphics. Ten 1967 logogrifi are presented. He takes part in the “Premio Internazionale dell’Incisione” in Biella. Gribaudo then travels to Turkey, where he doesn’t use a camera, but a note-pad to capture impressions, landscapes and sensations by means of sketches, creating real “travel diaries”, susceptible and subject, on his return, to complex new elaboration often giving rise to material for one or more theme-based exhibitions.
