Biography 1969

A very long series of personal exhibitions are held this year: eight, respectively held at the “Albert White Gallery” in Toronto, “La Maison des Arts et Loisirs” in Le Creusot, the “Galleria G13” in Seregno (where single piece logogrifi produced over the last two years are exhibited and introduced in the catalogue by Giorgio De Chirico), at the “Hollar” Gallery in Prague (Gribaudo exclusively presents 1967-69 logogrifi on paper and, for the occasion, a catalogue by Jiri Siblik is published), the “Galerie Zodiaque” in Geneva and the “Gissi” Gallery in Turin. At this last exhibition, Gribaudo proposes logogrifi made with a a new material, polystyrene, all bearing titles not using words but progressive numbers preceded by the initials of Ezio Gribaudo, EG. Similar works are also presented in Paris at the “Galerie Rive Droite”. For this occasion, a catalogue enriched by various texts and some poems is published and translated into French for the first time, whereas “Appunti cubani”, pastels and oils executed in 1967 during or immediately after Gribaudo’s journey to the Caribbean island, are exhibited at the “Schwarz” Gallery in Milan. He takes part in a huge joint exhibition dedicated to Italian Art, held at the “Galleria Roma” in Chicago. He also takes part in the “VIII Mostra della Grafica” in Ljubljana and finally in the “Mostra di Grafica Italiana Contemporanea” at the Prague National Gallery. During the summer, he goes on a long journey to Tanzania and Uganda where, as usual, he fills a great number of “travel note-pads”. Using the latter ,Gribaudo prepares a graphics file in 75 copies on the “Safari” theme, with exotic animal motives and the typically African baobab tree.
