Biography 1970

He creates his first sculptures, at first some scale models in polystyrene, then in bronze. He is especially attracted to this metal because of its nobility and capacity of lasting over time, as compared to other materials. He creates the “Medaglia per le Universiadi”. However, his first personal exhibitions are still dedicated to logogrifi. At the “Torbandena” Gallery in Trieste, he presents some in polystyrene (all shown in the catalogue published with an introduction by Katia Ambrosic). Similar works are exhibited at the “Nuova Loggia” Gallery in Bologna (with a catalogue introduced by Renato Barilli): but the works forming the logogrifi are so deeply embossed that they create true high relief effects in their dramatic play of light and shadow. At the “Marisa del Rey” Gallery in New York, he presents single piece coloured logogrifi, all titled with the abbreviations CNY1 to CNY24. At the “Mercanti” Gallery in Turin, he also exhibits new works, Metallogrifi (introduced by Enrico Crispolti): these are metallized polyester sheets subsequently “treated” by burning and collage. After Turin, Metallogrifi is exhibited in Genoa, at the “Pourquoi pas ?” Gallery (catalogue introduced by Enrico Crispolti). Other personal exhibitions are also held at the “Galleria Studio” in Matera, at the “San Giorgio” Gallery in Portofino, at the “Galleria PG3” in Albisola and the “Tinoghelfi” Gallery in Vicenza. Finally, at the “Christian Stein” Gallery in Turin, he presents logogrifi especially created for the occasion in pure gold and silver leaf. For the “All’insegna del Pesce d’Oro” exhibitions organised by Vanni Scheiwiller, “Gribaudo Logogrifi 70” is published in one hundred and fifty numbered copies, with an introduction by Annalisa Cima. Gribaudo takes part in the “Biennale Internazionale della Grafica” in Florence, the “Premio Ramazzotti” in Milan and the “Biennale Internazionale della Grafica” in Catania. In the summer, he travels to Peru, where he continues to produce notebooks and sketches, which he newly elaborates in the graphic series Machupicchu consisting of six white on white works, obtained through a silk-screen relief process and reproduced in 25 copies, published the following year.
