Biography 1996

He once again exhibits Mimose in Menton, always at the “Musée National d’Histoire Naturelle Val Rahmeh”. To celebrate the thirty years since the “Biennale di Venezia” award, two important exhibitions are dedicated to Gribaudo, respectively in Canelli and in Turin. The “Museo Gancia” in Canelli hosts a selection of 94 of his works going from 1966 to 1996 in the suggestive spaces of its cellars: logogrifi, metallogrifi, still life paintings on jute. The exhibition is accompanied by a calendar (1997), including a text by Francesco Forte and a video directed by Willy Darko. At the “Galleria Narciso” in Turin, he exhibits “Vent’anni di flani e logogrifi 1966-1996”. The catalogue, further to an introduction by Michele L. Straniero, is enriched by an anthology consisting of texts written by art critics. Joint exhibitions include “Metafora da viaggio”, organised by Paolo Cotza and “Arte Aperta a Piscina e Contenitorio” held at the “Triennale di Milano”, organised by Samuele Mazza. Together with his daughter Paola and Alberto Cottino, he promotes and sets up a course in art education “Destinazione Arte” for the Paravia Publishing House. The artist’s hands become teachers of techniques, materials to use, advice for practical exercises. A new and unusual idea for secondary school students. And again a Jurassic Park atmosphere for the crèche produced by Gribaudo at the Via Principessa Felicità Di Savoia boarding-school in Turin, by means of scenery inspired by prehistory, in which dinosaur sculptures in lead and coloured antimony, forming an amphitheatre, take the place of the sheep. In Paris, Gribaudo takes part in the joint exhibition “Salon des artistes naturalistes” at the “Musée d’Histoire Naturelle”.
