Biography 2003
At the Rome Quirinale, on May 5th, he receives the medaglia doro ai benemeriti for Culture and Art from the President of the Republic, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi. Epifania del bianco e teatri della memoria is the title of the exhibition dedicated to fifty years of his works, on view at the Complesso Monumentale di San Michele a Ripa, in Rome (May 23rd to June 27th 2003), held by the Ministry for Cultural Assets and organised by Marta Concina and Giovanni Cordero. His white works Logogrifi and Teatri della memoria converse and interact in the environment where they are exhibited: the austere and humble cells of the former prison for minors are for the first time transformed into highly suggestive exhibition spaces. The catalogue is by Paola Gribaudo, published in the Fratelli Pozzo edizioni dArte, with unpublished texts by Sandra Pinto, Giovanni Cordero, Giorgio Calcagno, Willy Beck and Antonio Miredi. On June 6th, Gribaudo also receives the City of Turins gold medal in recognition of good services for Culture and Art from the Mayor Sergio Chiamparino. He creates a monument for the Centro Studi delle Officine Meccaniche G. Cerutti in Vercelli. On October 18th, he receives the Premio Torino Libera Centro Pannunzio with the mention: Ezio Gribaudo, a world-famous artist, who has always chosen to produce art free of ideological theory. He presents the Bestiario xerograph series with Gianni Verna at the Libreria Mood in Turin (September 11th to October 2nd). Piramide, a Logogrifo dedicated to the Museo Egizio in Turin, is created to contribute towards initiatives promoted by FAI. The presentation of the Samarcanda 2004 catalogue, with calligraphy by Chen Li, then takes place at the Libreria Mood in Turin. A personal exhibition follows for the inauguration of the São Paulo Private Bankings Branch 10 in Turin, for which occasion the logogrifo Acquamanile is especially created.
