Biography 1966

On invitation to the “XXXIII Biennale Internazionale di Venezia” exhibition, he wins the highly prestigious “Premio Officiale” earmarked for an Italian graphic designer. He exhibits his “Logogrifi”, from the Greek “logos” speech and “grifo” fishing-net, in other words, manipulated ready-mades, puzzles, words taken apart and put back together to form other, potentially more infinitive words, obtained by using the technique of embossing on blotting paper, white on white. Abstract work but also theme sheets which distinguish most of Gribaudo’s production between the Sixties and the beginning of the Seventies. Similar...

At the “Larcade” Gallery in Paris, presented by Ernest Pirotte (Paul Bury’s pseudonym), Gribaud exhibits white logogrifi, the titles of which are taken from Greek words referring to graphics. Then he has an exhibition at the “La Minima” Gallery in Turin (the catalogue introduced by Cesare Zavattini): the white logogrifi exhibited have fanciful titles such as “Gillotipia, “Greco delle incisioni”, “Greco paleografico” and “Palingrafico”. Other personal exhibitions are held at the “La Bertesca” Gallery in Genoa, the “La Giostra” Gallery...

Biography 1968

He prepares a personal exhibition at the “Gallerie de France” in Paris (the catalogue introduced by Renato Barilli), exclusively presenting logogrifi. In those years, white became his most typical and distinguishing colour, to the point of stimulating Giorgio De Chirico into talking about “leucophylia” in Gribaudo’s work. White logogrifi are also exhibited at the “Galerie Zodiaque” in Geneva. This time, the catalogue is introduced by Michel Tapié. More personal exhibitions at the “Studio d’Arte Condotti 75” in Rome (catalogue introduced by Giovanni Carandente) and at the “Macom” Gallery in Turin...

Biography 1970

He creates his first sculptures, at first some scale models in polystyrene, then in bronze. At the “Torbandena” Gallery in Trieste, he presents some in polystyrene (all shown in the catalogue published with an introduction by Katia Ambrosic). At the “Schwarz” Gallery in Milan, he exclusively presents metallogrifi, with a rich and shimmering surface, secretly seeming to reproduce the preciousness of ancient “gold backgrounds” or icons, in which the sacred aspect does not give rise to images but only to luminescent feasts.
