Preludio
Ogni edizione di INSERTO — il programma curatoriale dell’Archivio Gribaudo, inaugurato nel 2024 — è un invito a esplorare, insieme ad artisti, poeti, curatori, graphic designer e scrittori, un frammento del vasto universo di Ezio Gribaudo (1929-2022): un aspetto della sua opera, una rivelazione d’atelier, un segreto d’archivio.
Per questa nuova edizione, Anne Bourse (1982) e Benjamin Seror (1979) propongono una fiction di forme e canzoni, prolungando lo spirito d’invenzione che emana dallo studio di Ezio Gribaudo. Una serie inedita di disegni degli anni ’70 di Ezio Gribaudo, dai colori vibranti e dalle forme ondulate, rivela un repertorio di oggetti quotidiani: lampade, vasi, caettiere e utensili di ogni tipo. Le loro forme psichedeliche, infuse di motivi grafici di “logogrifi”, oscillano tra oggetto e segno, mentre onde sembrano insinuarsi nella vibra- zione del tratto. Ancora musica: quella che Ezio ascoltava — jazz, radio — nelle sere d’inverno sulle Alpi e durante il giorno nel suo studio di Via Biamonti.
Compulsiva e ossessiva, la pratica del disegno in Ezio Gribaudo e Anne Bourse sembra condividere una certa affinità nonostante le rispettive singolarità: nei volti e negli ornamenti delle loro forme, nella scelta dei soggetti, spesso ispirati a immagini e oggetti quotidiani, e nelle loro tecniche — penna a sfera, matita, pennarello o inchiostro — e nelle loro palette di colori aciduli. Se il libro era al centro della pratica di Ezio Gribaudo, Anne Bourse invece crea finti magazine quasi dal nulla, ma con tutto il desiderio. Utilizzando carta bianca trovata e rilegata grossolanamente, inventa pagine dove vagano poesie sfocate, messaggi perduti o canzoni arenate, intrecciate con immagini — fotografie o disegni — scansionate, ristampate e ridisegnate a penna a sfera. Da questi gesti umili e persistenti emergono veri proto-oggetti: libri imperfetti, mutanti e profondamente artigianali. Gribaudo, invece, disegnava instancabilmente nei menabo vuoti dei libri — bozze preliminari create prima della stampa, mentre lavorava come editore per Edizione Fratelli Pozzo e Le Grandi Monografie Fabbri — che riciclava, dando loro così una seconda vita. Mockup e prototipo sono stratagemmi nel lavoro di Anne Bourse e Benjamin Seror, che inventano costantemente scenari di oggetti e storie finzionali, come quella che si racconta e si ascolta in Chanson Nouvelle.

Prelude
Each edition of INSERTO, the curatorial program of the Archivio Gribaudo inaugurated in 2024, invites artists, poets, curators, graphic designers, and writers to explore a fragment of Ezio Gribaudo’s (1929-2022) vast universe: an aspect of his work, a revelation from the studio, a secret from the archives.
For this new edition, Anne Bourse (1982) and Benjamin Seror (1979) offer a fiction of forms and songs, extending the inventive spirit that emanates from Ezio Gribaudo’s studio.
A previously unseen series of drawings from the 1970s by Gribaudo, in vibrant colors with undulating forms, reveal a repertoire of every- day objects: lamps, vases, coee makers, and tools of all varieties. Their psychedelic shapes, infuse with graphic “logogriph” patterns, then oscillate between object and sign, as waves seem to slip into the vibration of the line. And music again: the music Ezio listened to, jazz, radio on winter evenings in the Alps, and during the day in his studio on Via Biamonti.
Compulsive and obsessive, the practice of drawing in both Ezio Gribaudo and Anne Bourse’s works seem to share a certain anity despite their respective singularities: in the whorls and ornamen- tation of their forms, in the choice of subjects often inspired by everyday images and objects, and in their techniques — ballpoint pen, pencil, felt-tip, or ink — and in their tangy color palettes.
If the book was at the heart of Ezio Gribaudo’s practice, Anne Bourse, on the other hand, creates real-fake magazines from almost nothing with boundless desire. Using found blank paper, roughly bound, she invents pages where fuzzy poems, lost messages,
or stranded songs drift, interwoven with images, photographs or drawings; scanned, reprinted, and redrawn in ballpoint pen. From these humble and persistent gestures emerge some proto- objects: imperfect, mutant, and deeply artisanal books. Gribaudo, meanwhile, while working as an editor for Edizione Fratelli Pozzo and Le Grandi Monografie Fabbri, drew tirelessly in the blank mock-ups of books; those preliminary drafts created before print- ing, which he recycled, giving them a second life. Mock-up and prototype serve as stratagems in the work of Anne Bourse and Benjamin Seror, who constantly invent scenarios of objects and fictional stories, like the one told and heard in Chanson Nouvelle.
